Ceremony to honor Angela Mason, Howard Rosenblatt, Ed Benkin and Jason Weber

Four alumni of Rowan University, who honed their professional skills while working at Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM in the 1990s, will be inducted into the station's Hall of Fame on April 12.

Angela "Ang" Mason of St. Davids, Pa., now with WOGL-FM in Philadelphia, Howard Rosenblatt of Bridgewater, now with WPLJ-FM in New York City, Ed Benkin of Burlington Township, who works for ESPN Radio, Princeton University and KYW-AM, and Jason Weber of Lincoln Park, now with NFL Films, all will join the Hall of Fame during ceremonies at Terra Nova restaurant in Sewell, beginning at 6 p.m.

Now in its third year, the WGLS Hall of Fame recognizes Rowan graduates, faculty or staff who have been instrumental in the growth and development of the station and who have been long-term supporters of WGLS and the University. The induction ceremony is part of the radio station's annual end-of-the-year banquet.

Here are profiles of each of this year's honorees:

Angela "Ang" Mason

A 1993 graduate of Rowan, where she earned her bachelor's degree in communications, Mason currently serves as on-air personality and assistant to the music and production departments at 98.1 WOGL-FM, CBS Radio, in Philadelphia.

At WOGL, Mason hosts the Saturday mid-day show and the highly-rated "I Love the 70s Sundays" on Sunday afternoons. In addition, Mason serves as WOGL's main on-air fill-in personality, produces multiple commercials on a weekly basis, and programs the weekend music specialty shows.

Mason began her broadcast career at WGLS in 1991. She was the host of "Hey Cool Cats," a weeknight jazz program on the station.

Mason's 16 years in radio have taken her all over the east coast?including stints at country music, classical music and classic rock stations from Georgia to New York state.

Howard Rosenblatt

Rosenblatt, who earned his radio/television film degree in 1990, currently serves as senior account executive at WPLJ-FM, an ABC-owned and operated station in New York City.

Rosenblatt began his radio career with WGLS in 1987. During his four years with the station, he served as training director and hard rock and metal program director. He also worked for the WGLS sports team as play-by-play man, sideline reporter and a semi-regular member of the sports talk show, "Sports Force."

Rosenblatt, who started his journey into the radio sales market by selling grant ads for WGLS in 1990, worked for stations in Franklyn and Morristown before plunging into the New York City market at WAXQ-FM in 1997. He joined WPLJ in 1998.

Ed Benkin

A 1991 College of Communication graduate, Benkin's radio resume is vast. He serves as a reporter and fill-in Sports Center anchor for ESPN Radio, a position he's held since 2000, and also serves as play-by-play man for Princeton University football, hockey and lacrosse, a post he's held since 1995.

Additionally, Benkin contributes to KYW-AM in Philadelphia and also works as a sports anchor, reporter and writer for the station's web site. For Patriot Media, Benkin works as a host of sports shows and half-time segments for college sports broadcasts.

A graduate of Cherokee High School, Benkin began working for WGLS in 1987 and served as the station's sports director. He was at the helm when the men's soccer team won its national championship in 1990.

Before joining ESPN Radio, Benkin was sports director for Suburban Cable's Tri-State Media for six years.

Jason Weber

A 1993 graduate of Pitman High School, Weber earned his radio/television/film degree from Rowan in 1997. Prior to joining NFL Films, Weber enjoyed several years with MLB Productions, where he won multiple Emmy awards as a producer. Over the past two years, he produced the critically-acclaimed ESPN Classic series "Cheap Seats."

Weber, who served as WGLS sports director his final two years at Rowan Radio, covered some of the most important events in Rowan athletics history, including the football team's runs to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl and the men's basketball team's national championship in 1996.

In January, Weber, along with WGLS alumni Jeff Hickman and Rob Ryan, upheld the award-winning tradition of the station's sports department by claming an Award of Distinction in the Communicator Awards for a documentary on the 10th anniversary of the men's basketball team's national championship.
