Glassboro students help Rowan celebrate planetarium gift
March 13, 2007
Sixty first, second and third graders from the Dorothy L. Bullock
School in Glassboro, along with donors Ric and Jean Edelman, will
help celebrate the latest gift to the Fredric and Jean Edelman
Planetarium at Rowan University on Thursday, March 22, at 11 a.m.
in Science Hall.
The Glassboro students' involvement is of particular significance: The event will mark the latest gift from the Edelmans ? $54,000 given to the Rowan University Foundation to cover admission to the planetarium for elementary school children for the next year or so. They also donated $1 million to the Foundation in 2002 for the enhancement of the planetarium, the largest gift made by any undergraduate alumni in Rowan's history.
The day will include a ribbon cutting, planetarium show, pizza party and activities for the children and brief comments from Rowan President Dr. Donald Farish and the Edelmans.
Ric Edelman, a 1980 graduate and one of the nation's most acclaimed financial advisors, and Jean Edelman, a 1981 graduate, founded Edelman Financial Services LLC in 1987. They sold the firm in 2005 to Sanders Morris Harris, a Houston investment bank, but they continue to manage the company. EFS has won more than 60 financial, business, community and philanthropic awards since it began. Ric Edelman, a New York Times-bestselling author, hosts The Ric Edelman Show, a weekly personal finance call-in program syndicated by the ABC Radio Network.
