NJTC clean energy conference scheduled for Rowan University

Rowan University will be the site of a clean energy conference held by the Energy, Environment and Engineering Industry Network of the New Jersey Technology Council on Thursday, May 25. "Green Homes, Green Cars, Green Workplaces" will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Rowan Hall (the College of Engineering building off Bowe Boulevard).
With energy issues dominating the news today, the New Jersey Technology Council is using this conference to showcase "green" technologies developed and deployed by Council members. Three expert panels will explore new technologies being used in the construction of green homes and businesses and the latest innovations in alternative fuel vehicles. Sponsors are the law firm of Drinker Biddle and Atlantic City Electric.
The Green Home Panel will focus on building materials, clean energy heating and cooling options, appliances, lighting and control technologies. Moderated by Shayne Veramallay, NJTC Venture Fund, the panel will include Darren Port, N.J. Department of Community Affairs?Green Homes Program; Mark MaGrann, MaGrann Associates?N.J. Energy Star Homes consultant; Govi Rao, Philips Lighting?energy-efficient lighting; Matthew Johnson, Gaia Power Technologies?distributed energy management and storage; Lynn Srivastava, Atlantic City Electric?voluntary green program; and Wade Smith, Wellspring Wireless?wireless metering and control networks.
The Green Vehicles Panel will explore the latest trends in alternative fuel vehicles, government fleet operations, incentives and mandates, next-generation vehicle research and new transportation technologies. Moderated by Joseph Schmidt, Drinker Biddle, the panel will include Ellen Bourbon, N.J. Board of Public Utilities?alternative fuel vehicle program;
Dr. Anthony Marchese, Rowan University's College of Engineering?biodiesel fuels;
Andrew Ross, Atlantic City Electric?hybrid electric-biodiesel utility trucks; Dr. Mariano Savelski, Rowan University's College of Engineering?ethanol; and Joshua Hauser, Odyne Corporation?heavy-duty electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
The Green Workplaces Panel will examine green building options in the commercial sector, including clean energy options, government incentives and technical assistance and commercial success stories. Moderated by Lisa Westerfield, Schoor DePalma, the panel will include
