The College of Engineering recently inducted 27 students from four engineering disciplines into its new chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Rowan University. Undergraduate students must be in the top eighth of their junior class or top fifth of their senior class and display distinguished scholarship achievement and exemplary character to be considered for the society.

Dr. Steven Chin, chief advisor for the Rowan University chapter and associate dean of the College of Engineering, said, ?Tau Beta Pi is the national engineering honor society and is service oriented. We are pleased to be part of an association that is recognized around the country and values superior scholarship and leadership achievement.?

According to Tau Beta Pi, the organization is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to recognize students of distinguished scholarship and exemplary character.
