African-Americans and other minority high school and college students seeking career guidance will want to buy the newly published book "Black and Powerful: The Career Guide For Tomorrow?s Top Leaders" (Airleaf Publishing) written by Voorhees resident Rubin Britt, assistant director of Rowan University's Career and Academic Planning Center.

Britt's book includes a list of necessary career skills people should have and provides advice on such subjects as resume preparation, job search processes, job interview techniques and salary negotiation. In addition to the traditional academic planning advice, Britt includes non-traditional tips aimed at student athletes proceeding through the recruitment process.

His career includes stints as a consultant for the U.S. Department of Education, the Educational Testing Service and a host of other colleges and organizations. Currently, Britt resides in Voorhees, New Jersey with his wife Penny and their two children Ruben III and Savannah.
