Actor Robert Hegyes Returns to Rowan

Actor Bob Hegyes (Welcome Back Kotter, Cagney and Lacey) will return to his alma mater, Rowan University, to address communication and theater students on Thursday, April 17 (from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. he will give a presentation on <+>Getting Started in the Entertainment Industry<+> in the Bozorth auditorium, and from 2 to 3:15 p.m. he will address an advanced documentary class) in Bozorth Hall.

Upon graduation from Rowan University of New Jersey with a B.A. in Speech/Theater & Secondary Education, Robert co-starred in the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway hit drama, NAOMI COURT. Based upon his performance, he was immediately cast by actor/director Len Cariou to co-star in the Broadway drama, DON?T CALL BACK. While performing on Broadway, Robert won the role of Juan Epstein in the ABC award winning hit comedy, WELCOME BACK, KOTTER, and at the age of twenty-five, became one of the show?s directors.

Mr. Hegyes has guest starred in over thirty episodic television shows, most recently including SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE with Host Quentin Tarantino, NEWS RADIO, THE STEVE HARVEY SHOW, DIAGNOSIS MURDER, SUDDENLY SUSAN, and THE DREW CAREY SHOW. He also starred in the award winning Passat Commercial THE CHASE for director Kinka Usher.

Robert has starred in the following movies: HONEYMOON HOTEL with Jane Kazmerek, UNDERGROUND ACES with Melanie Griffith, BOB ROBERTS with Tim Robbins, THE PANDORA PROJECT with Daniel Baldwin, THE PURPO$E with Mia Farrow and the Original Showtime film BAR HOPPING with Kelly Preston.

Mr. Hegyes made his Los Angeles stage debut to rave notices as Chico Marx in the Westwood and National Touring Company production of AN EVENING WITH GROUCHO. Upon returning from that tour, Robert was cast to co-star in the Emmy award winning hit CBS drama, CAGNEY & LACY, as Det. Manny Esposito.

Robert has apprenticed directors James Burrows (CHEERS) and Andy Ackerman (SIENFELD) to continue directing television. He received a story credit for the Olsen Twin?s new FOX weekly series, SO LITTLE TIME, and co-created the pilot script for Fox Family Channel, DADDY DAZE.

Mr. Hegyes was awarded an associate professorship/artist-in-residence at his alma mater, teaching Theater and Radio, Television and Film. He also is an adjunct instructor at Brooks College of Long Beach, CA., where he is teaching Oral Communication.

Robert has authored nine screenplays most notably, A DAY AT THE MOVIES, the lost Marx Brothers film, and is represented by the literary agency, Kaplan-Stahler-Gumer, in Beverly Hills, CA.
