Rowan University to Hold Memorial Service for Dr. Richard Mitchell

Rowan University will remember English professor, Dr. Richard Mitchell with a memorial service on Wednesday, February 19 at 7 p.m. Mitchell passed away peacefully in his Pitman home on December 27. The memorial, which will be held in Boyd Recital Hall, will feature speakers who knew Mitchell well.

Mitchell, who received his Ph.D. in classical and Western Literature from Syracuse University, taught at Rowan University from 1963 to 2002. He was the author and editor of the “Underground Grammarian Newsletter” and wrote four books – Less Than Words Can Say, the Graves of Academe, The Tower of Babel and The Gift of Fire.

Mitchell is survived by his wife, Francis, four daughters and son-in-laws, and five grandchildren.
