Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM was awarded the Society of Professional Journalists? 2001 Mark of Excellence award in the category of Radio Sports Reporting in the regional competition. The program entered into the contest, Profs Pre-game, was produced by students Derek Jones of Somerdale, John Sadak of Brick and Mark Kasubinski of Monroe Township (Central Jersey).
The Rowan Radio staff competed against colleges in Region 1, which consists of schools in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Profs Pre-game program will now be judged against the winners from eleven other regions for the National Mark of Excellence Award, which will be announced later this year.
