Rowan University Graduate Films World Trade Center Aftermath; Documentary to Air on The Learning Channel on Thursday
October 2, 2001
<+>On the morning of September 11, 2001, a team of video journalists went into the streets of New York City. Over the next 24 hours, they captured the horror and human drama of the unfolding tragedy.<+> Rowan graduate Rasheed Daniel was one of them.
And so begins the promo for <+>Voices from Ground Zero,<+> a new documentary that will air on The Learning Channel (TLC) this Thursday at 9 p.m. Daniel, who graduated from Rowan University in 2000 with a degree in communications and a specialization in radio/TV/film, helped shoot, edit and produce the documentary for BNNtv, an independent documentary company based out of Manhattan. Originally from Old Bridge, Daniel now lives in the New York area. He was at work at BNNtv when the tragedy began.
<+>A lot of fieldwork and round-the-clock coverage have made this documentary a strong inside look at New York on the date of 9-11-01,<+> said Daniel. <+>The show was produced within 24 hours.<+>
The footage captures the rescue workers who rushed to the scene after the attacks as well as the New Yorkers who watched in horror as the events unfolded. The coverage gives viewers an eye-level view of the first 24 hours after the attacks, from rescue efforts to the sunrise over New York’s altered skyline the morning after.
<+>He has risked his life to gather his footage,<+> said Daniel’s former professor, Ned Eckhardt.
<+>During his 16 to 24 hour days, he called me to thank me for teaching him how to shoot, produce and edit a documentary, and emphasizing the passion necessary to achieve something extraordinary.<+>
Barring any last-minute schedule changes, <+>Voices from Ground Zero<+> will air on The Learning Channel at 9 p.m. this Thursday.
