New Jersey Associated Press Broadcasters have awarded Rowan Radio, 89.7 WGLS-FM first place in the Best College Production category for the fifth time in six years.
WGLS captured the annual award for the feature program <+>Journey Through the Tourney.<+> The half-hour program aired on WGLS-FM last March and presented highlights of the journey of the Rowan University Women's Basketball team through the NCAA Division III basketball playoff tournament.
New Jersey Associated Press Broadcasters also awarded the station an honorable mention for the documentary <+>One Nation Understanding.<+> The five-part series, which aired in May 1988, took an in-depth look at multiculturalism in America. <+>One Nation Understanding<+> also recently won second place in the annual Communicator Awards competition.
<+>Journey Through the Tourney<+> was produced by WGLS-FM Sports Director John Sadak of Brick. <+>One Nation Understanding<+> was produced over a 12-week period by WGLS-FM members as part of their requirements for the university's advanced radio course.
