GLASSBORO?Rowan University's Student Government Association (SGA) will present a $6,000 check to the Glassboro Human Services Committee for its Food and Clothing Locker Fund at a SGA meeting on Monday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in room 221 of the Student Center.
Students raised the money through a variety of fundraising events and activities as part of their annual Project Santa fundraiser, a 32-year tradition that raises money for local charities. Rowan students volunteer to help many South Jersey not-for-profit organizations, but the annual Project Santa gift is seen as a way of <+>giving back to our local community,<+> said Erica Ortiz, Project Santa coordinator.
The Human Services Committee needs approximately $20,000 for a community food and clothing bank it plans to build behind the American Legion building on East High Street.
Last year, Rowan's Student Government Association gave $6,000 to the First Baptist Church of Glassboro, to help the congregation rebuild its church which had been destroyed by arson.
