Glassboro-Rowan University will host its second annual Community Day on Sunday, October 17, starting
at noon, with a wide range of activities for children and adults alike.

Community Day is open to all members of the surrounding communities, alumni, staff, students and their
parents and features a day-long series of events as the University's way of saying thank you to the
community for support over the years.

All events are free and open to all ages unless specified.

Schedule of Events:

Noon - 5 p.m.
Welcome Center, Rowan Hall Atrium
Start your day with a visit to the Information Center located in the new Engineering Building. A complete
schedule of events and souvenirs will be available. Tours of the University's newest building will be offered.

1 - 4:45 p.m.
Student Recreation Center Open House
This new state-of-the-art facility will be open to visitors of all ages. The swimming pool will be open, and the
gym will be set up for volleyball and basketball. Lockers will be available - bring your own lock.

<+>You're on the Air,<+> Radio Station, Bozorth Hall
Try your hand at being a DJ and take home a souvenir tape fromWGLS, the #1 college radio station in the
country in 1997.

Hollybush Tours, Hollybush
The historic mansion, the site of the 1967 Summit Conference, will be open for guided tours.

Campus Tour,s Rowan Hall Atrium
Our Admissions Ambassadors will be available to take visitors on a 45-minute tour of the Rowan University
campus.

Ultimate Trivia, University Library
Use all of the library's resources, from traditional to high tech, to find the answers to a trivia contest. Be one
of the first 50 to answer all the questions and win a prize. Library staff will be on hand to help.

Story Time, University Library
Members of the Elementary Education Club will read their favorite stories to children at two interest levels:
pre-kindergarten through first grade (Room 126) and second through fourth grades (Room 226). Parents
should stay with their children.

Surfing the Internet for Beginners, Robinson Hall, Room 325
Participants can get their feet wet on the Internet. This hands-on session will show visitors how to use the
Internet to find resources to help them live, work and play. Limited to 25.

Building Your Financial Future, Bunce Hall, Room 107
Confused about investing, mutual funds, insurance and retirement planning? Personal finance expert Dr.
Robert Pritchard will provide participants with information they can use to improve their financial future.

Engineering Clinic ? Build and Launch a Rocket, Rowan Hall, Room 146
Using only a two-liter soda bottle, cardboard and some tape it is possible to build a rocket that will travel the
length of a football field. Join the Rowan engineering faculty to design, build and launch your own rocket. All
materials will be provided.

Build Your Own Home Page, Bunce Hall, Room 158
Learn how to create a personal Home Page for use on the World Wide Web. Limited to the first 20 people.

Take the Rowan Basketball Challenge, Esby Gym, Main Gym
Test your basketball skills and win a prize. Compete against others in two levels: adult/child and male/female
adults. Bring basketball shoes.

Test your athletic skills as you climb a wall, walk a tightrope and find your way through a spider web.

Fitness and Wellness Testing, Esby Gym, Exercise Science Lab
Test your fitness and wellness level in the University's new Exercise Science Lab.

Engineering Clinic ? Guitar Special Effects, Rowan Hall, Room 204
Using equipment developed by engineering students, explore how sounds are made and modified to make
different effects.

Surfing the Internet for Non-Beginners, Robinson Hall, Room 325
A demonstration of new resources and technology for the experienced user. Limited to the first 25 people.

Pops Concert, Wilson Hall Patio
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy this joint Pops Concert by the Rowan University Lab Band,
Wind Ensemble and the new Pep and Swing Band. The concert will be conducted by one of our new faculty,
John Pastin, former conductor of the U. S. Navy Band. In the event of rain, the concert will be cancelled.

7 p.m.
The Garth Fagan Dance Company, Wilson Hall
The day's events will conclude with a performance by the Garth Fagan Dance Company. Founded by Garth
Fagan, who won a Tony Award for the Broadway production of <+>The Lion King,<+> the company will be
appearing as part of the Center for the Arts Concert Series. Call the Rowan University Box Office at (856)
