Rowan recognized for pre-college STEAM program and nutritional science

Two popular science programs, the STEAM pre-college academy and the Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition, received national recognition this week.

The Rowan STEAM Academy was ranked 29th in the U.S. for pre-college programs by CollegeConsensus.Com, which noted that the program offers a series of STEAM-focused field trips, career planning, leadership skills and test preparation.

Rowan’s STEAM Academy helps prepare students entering grades seven through 12 for success in college and improves on traditional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) programming by pairing it with instruction in art, design, culture and humanities.

The University’s Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, offered through the School of Health Professions, features two specialized tracks, Exercise Science and Dietetics. The program was cited as among the 25 best in the U.S. by Bachelor’sDegreeCenter.Com, an online aggregator of college informati0n.

Ranking Rowan’s B.S. in Nutrition #13, one place ahead of a program offered by Colorado State University and one place behind one offered by Washington State Univesity, the site noted that Rowan’s program “trains students for careers as nutrition counselors, educators, and nutrition specialists.”
