Rowan engineers ham it up: Oil aboard to create 100-foot hoagie as part of Engineers Week celebrations


Students in the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University will put their design skills to work when they prepare a 100-foot hoagie on Tuesday, Feb. 19, starting at 12:15 p.m. on the Engineering Hall bridge (third floor) in the College at Rowan University, off Bowe Boulevard, Glassboro, New Jersey.

The culinary task is part of the College’s celebration of all things engineering. Chefs and non-chefs alike will enjoy the results, along with pizza, all supplied by Liscio’s Bakery, Glassboro. In addition to making the hoagie, students, faculty, staff and administrators will have an opportunity to informally discuss the semester and the profession during lunch.

Monday, Feb. 18

Celebrating Engineering Diversity | 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | Rowan Hall

Event for accepted Engineering students sponsored by Society of Women Engineers; National Society of Black Engineers; Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers; Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; Women in Engineering; and Flying First – First-Generation Support Program. 

Alumni Interview Prep Seminar | 10 a.m. to noon | Dean’s Conference Room (Engineering Hall)

Jeff Miles will host an open seminar to help improve interview skills. This forum will assist soon-to-be job seekers learn the tactics, techniques and etiquette necessary for a successful interview. Miles is an alumnus and currently is a manager with Exelon Utilities -- Delmarva Power.

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Faculty, Staff, Alumni & Student Basketball Tournament | 4 p.m. | Rec Center Gym
