College Factual: Rowan a top pick for “Veteran Friendliness”

College Factual, which publishes data analytics and insights on college outcomes, has ranked Rowan University the #2 college or university in New Jersey for veterans and scored the institution #140 nationally out of 1,820 schools surveyed in its 2019 Best for Veterans report.

In New Jersey, Rowan was one of 35 colleges and universities considered for the annual study.

Troy, N.Y.-based College Factual reports that, nationally, Rowan is in the top 10 percent of all schools for veterans and that for 2019 improved its ranking by 40 slots over 2018.

In a statement announcing this year’s top schools for veterans, the organization noted a variety of factors considered in assigning institutional scores including affordability, veteran support services and resources specific to veteran needs. It also considered overall quality metrics important to all students as well as metrics specific to non-traditional students.

For the sixth consecutive year, Rowan this month will honor veterans with a weeklong series of events starting with activities before and during the Friday, Nov. 9 regular season football finale between the Profs and Kean University. During the game, $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to a veterans support group and Rowan’s Pep Band will honor student veterans and active military personnel with the playing of each service branch’s song.

Coordinator of Veterans Affairs Beth Sosnoski said College Factual’s high ranking for Rowan reflects a commitment to the men and women of America’s fighting forces that runs deep throughout the University.

“We take our commitment to veterans very seriously,” Sosnoski said. “They are the best America has to offer and they honor us not only with their defense of our country but by attending our university.”
