Corey Clement, rookie running back for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, will be the speaker for Rowan University’s 93rd Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 6, at 4 p.m.

Clement, 23, who grew up in Glassboro, will address the Class of 2018 in Rowan’s Richard Wackar Stadium just across the road from Glassboro High School, where his phenomenal gridiron career took shape.

The main ceremony, which will include graduates from all colleges and majors, kicks off Rowan’s Commencement Week. During the week, each college will hold individual ceremonies to recognize graduates during 10 ceremonies over five days.

Educated at the University of Wisconsin, where he studied life sciences communication, Clement signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent during the 2017 off-season. He was the only undrafted rookie to make the Eagles’ opening-day roster and played a vital role in the Birds’ historic Super Bowl run.

Clement recorded 100 yards receiving and caught a touchdown to help the underdog Eagles defeat the New England Patriots to claim the first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history during Super Bowl LII.

Clement’s receiving yardage ranks him third for running backs—and fourth by any rookie—in Super Bowl history.  He is one of 29 players from South Jersey to be on a Super Bowl roster.

At Wisconsin, Clement was a member of the winningest senior class in school history. A first-team All-Big Ten honoree, he rushed for a total of 3,092 yards and 36 touchdowns for the Badgers.

A year ago, Clement, who bounced back from sports hernia surgery in 2015, was invited to Eagles training camp as an undrafted free agent after his name was not called during the 2017 NFL Draft. He scored his first NFL touchdown against the New York Giants last September.

At Glassboro High School, Clement earned the South Jersey record with 6,245 career rushing yards and 90 touchdowns.

Also during the ceremony, Christopher J. Lukach ’04, will accept Rowan’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. President of Anne Klein Communications Group (AKCG), a national public relations firm based in Mount Laurel, Lukach earned his bachelor’s degree in communication, with a specialization in public relations.

At AKCG, Lukach brings his strategic counseling and planning skills to lead accounts in the healthcare, education, information services, utility and chemical industries.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award honors alumni who have personified the Rowan tradition of excellence and who have brought credit to the University through their personal accomplishment, professional accomplishment or humanitarian service.
