Rowan Engineering hosts rocket Blast Off 2018


Rowan University’s American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics club will host its third annual competition, Blast Off 2018, on Saturday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Jersey Technology Park on Route 322 by the Route 55 entrance. (Safety checks, tours and other activities will be held in the morning. The actual competitions will start at noon.)

Teams must design and launch a two-tube rocket, which must weigh 650 grams at liftoff. The rockets must safely carry two raw eggs to exactly 800 feet within 41-43 seconds. The entire rocket must return to the ground safely, with all of its parts connected.

Fifteen teams will participate from Nazareth Academy High School, Delran Middle School, Delran High School, Glassboro Intermediate School, Spring Grove Area High School, Morristown High School, Holy Angels Catholic School and Seneca High School. Winners will receive a trophy made by the 3-D printers in the engineering building.
