A statewide news organization has named Rowan President Dr. Ali Houshmand to a very exclusive club whose members include the most influential people in New Jersey.

Geared toward business but covering politics, lifestyle, statewide news and more, ROI-NJ (Return on Information – New Jersey) included Houshmand among some 100 New Jerseyans representing a wide swath of influencers in the publication’s inaugural Power List.

The group, led by Governor Phil Murphy, includes leaders in business, government, education, real estate, politics, organized labor, law, finance and technology.

Houshmand is one of eight higher education leaders featured on the list, which includes such prominent educator/executives as the presidents of Rutgers, Princeton and Montclair State universities.

The publication notes some of the many successes Rowan has enjoyed since Houshmand became president.

“There’s plenty to say about Houshmand’s success,” ROI-NJ writes. “Since taking over as president in 2012, enrollment and SAT scores are up, there has been more than $1.5 billion in university-affiliated construction (including the famed Rowan Boulevard) and tuition and fees have increased below the rate of inflation. Simply put, Houshmand runs Rowan as if it were a business. Others could benefit from his new-age thinking.”

ROI-NJ is just the latest organization to recognize Houshmand for leadership and accomplishment. Among numerous accolades for leadership, Houshmand has made NJ Biz magazine’s Power 100 list and the Star Ledger’s 100+ Club.
