Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM staffers received two awards in the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts competition Feb. 7.

Station members Danielle Miller and Matteo Iadonisi earned a first-place tie in the Best PSA, Promo, or Commercial category. The winning entry was a promotional announcement for “The 90s Collective”, a weekly program hosted by Miller that features 90s alternative rock music.

John Campbell received an Award of Excellence for Best On-Air Personality for his work on Metal for the Masses. The show, which airs every Monday night, highlights the best in metal and features interviews.

Award winners will be honored at the organization’s convention on April 8 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Broadcast Education Association recognizes the best in student and faculty-produced media in its Festival of Media Arts competition. This year’s contest included more than 1,500 entries.

Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has won 289 regional and national awards since 1993.
