About two dozen girls from throughout the region will converge each day at Rowan University for Attracting Women into Engineering (AWE) on Tuesday, July 25, Wednesday, July 26, and Thursday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering off Bowe Boulevard in Glassboro.

AWE is designed to introduce girls entering the 7th, 8th and 9th grades to the field of engineering. The days are educational and great fun, teaching students the technical basics in easily identifiable ways, such as making bottle rockets (and launching model rockets).

College of Engineering personnel and students will present engineering modules and instruct the girls. PSEG Nuclear LLC and Edmund Optics Worldwide are co-sponsors. The workshops will focus on hands-on engineering laboratory experiments, professionalism and teamwork.

This is the 18th year Rowan is offering the AWE workshops.
