Sumo wrestling robots descend on Rowan University

Rowan University’s chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and more than 300 students from 30 universities across the Mid-Atlantic region will attend the Student Activities Conference (SAC), a series of competitions and technical and professional workshops, on Saturday, April 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering buildings off Bowe Boulevard, Glassboro, New Jersey.

Sumo wrestling robots, a brown bag circuit challenge, ethical case studies and more await the 300 attendees traveling to the IEEE SAC

Beginning at 8 am, engineering students from across the mid-Atlantic region will enjoy technical and professional workshops with engineering professionals before competing in six engineering problem-based competitions from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A formal banquet dinner and project showcase will honor the top teams, and winners will receive a one-of-a-kind trophy, designed by Rowan’s student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

This year’s event is sponsored by Rockwell Automation and Atlantic City Electric.
