Rowan University Unified Sports and Special Olympics New Jersey will host the fifth annual Miles for Medals 5k and 1-mile fun run on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The 3.1-mile race and 1-mile fun run through campus begins at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Rec Center, 201 Mullica Hill Road, Glassboro N.J. 08028.

Sign-ups on race day take place up to 30 minutes before the event on the patio of the Rec Center. The cost is $15 for students and $20 for non-students.

Check in for pre-registered runners begins at 9:45 a.m. on the patio. The 5k kicks off first at 10:30 a.m., followed shortly by the 1-mile fun run/walk at 10:40 a.m.

Rowan students and faculty, Special Olympics athletes, Rec Center members, and community members are welcome to compete across four divisions.

“We are hoping for more than 100 runners, as well as donations to support the Special Olympics New Jersey,” said Miles for Medals coordinator, Kevin George, assistant director of intramural sports and facilities operations at the Rec Center.

Rowan Unified Sports is a competitive sports club where Rowan students (Unified Partners) and Special Olympics athletes come together to promote friendship and inclusion through sports while still keeping a competitive atmosphere.
