The National Society of Professional Journalists awarded Rowan Radio, 89.7 WGLS-FM a second place Mark of Excellence Award in the Radio In-Depth Reporting category for its documentary <+>It?s My Party and I?ll Die If I Want To.<+>

Since 1972, the SPJ has presented awards honoring the best in student journalism. This year?s recipients had work published or broadcast in 2002.

<+>It?s My Party and I?ll Die If I Want To<+> was one of nearly 2,700 entries in 45 categories for print, radio, television and online collegiate journalism. The documentary takes an in-depth look at the use and dangers of Ecstasy and other party drugs.

Before reaching the national competition, the documentary won first place in SPJ?s regional competition and won two Crystal Awards in the 2002 Communicator Awards competition. It also received first place in the Philadelphia Press Association competition and placed third in the National Headliners competition.

Rowan radio has won 64 regional and national awards since 1993.
