Rowan University on December 5, 2000, announced that it received two
gifts from the Campbell family of Salem?$1 million to establish a
professorial chair in the College of Business and $1.5 million to fund an
endowment for the library and to purchase a residence for the
University's president. Both gifts were given to the University in the form
of stock.

Because each gift is $1 million or more, the Rowan University Foundation,
on behalf of the University, will apply to the State for a matching grant as
provided by the Higher Education Incentive Fund Act. Rowan University
expects to receive matching grants equal to 10 percent of the gifts
each year for 10 years, in effect doubling the gifts.

Ann Campbell donated $1 million to the Rowan University Foundation to
establish the John B. Campbell Professorial Chair in the College of
Business in honor of her late husband, who had been president and
chairman of the board of directors of Mannington Mills.
