Glassboro-Assemblyman Frank Blee, R-Atlantic County, was honored Monday evening by Rowan
University President Dr. Donald Farish for his sponsorship of the recently passed Higher Education
Incentive Act. Standing in front of a packed room of nearly 80 student leaders, Farish thanked Blee for his
<+>distinguished service to society and the field of education<+> and presented him the <+>President's Award.<+>

<+>The Incentive Act is one of the most important pieces of higher education funding legislation the state has
passed in years,<+> said Dr. Farish. <+>It will fundamentally change the way institutions are funded, ensuring
higher education in New Jersey remains affordable while academic offerings increase and improve.<+>

Through the Higher Education Incentive Act the state will match private gifts raised by two and four-year
institutions that exceed $100,000 and $1 million, respectively. The intent of the new law is to provide an
incentive for the state's 54 colleges and universities to court private and corporate donors, making successful
institutions less dependent on state funding and tax dollars.
