Dr. Ronald K. Butcher, of Pitman, has been elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors of the
National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE).

Butcher, who is director of Rowan University's Education Institute, has been a member of the New Jersey
State Board of Education since 1990 and currently serves as chair of the board's legal committee.

NASBE, active in the development of national education policy, includes current and former state boards of
education members from throughout the country. The association provides its members with opportunities to
develop advocacy positions regarding emerging educational issues and trends and with a forum to debate
education matters with members of Congress, the Administration, and other key national policy makers.

As a member of the Board of Directors of NASBE, Butcher will advocate policy to be included in the
upcoming reauthorization of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which establishes federal
priorities and funding related to a wide range of education issues.
