Rowan University's College of Engineering welcomes regional businesses to attend Industry Day 2009 on Tuesday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Glassboro campus and the South Jersey Technology Park at Rowan University in Mantua Township.

The day will feature, among other activities, tours of the College and the Tech Park, where engineering faculty and students conduct sponsored research; an industry panel on Rowan's engineering clinics; and networking opportunities with colleagues who share similar interests.

Participants will be able to meet with professors and students from Rowan's four engineering disciplines (chemical, civil and environmental, electrical and computer, and mechanical); observe some of the work they are pursuing in Rowan's hallmark engineering clinics; and learn how the College can collaborate with their organizations.

The day is open to businesses interested in exploring partnerships or research with the College of Engineering and those who want to learn more about the College and the Tech Park.

Rowan Engineering, currently ranked 12th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report among undergraduate engineering programs whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's degree, has a strong history of working with businesses, government organizations and non-profit groups. Through Rowan's engineering clinics, multidisciplinary student teams work with professors and outside professionals on more than 100 projects each year for such organizations as the Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Navy and New Jersey Department of Transportation and for businesses such as Johnson-Matthey, Helios Products, L.L.C. and K-Tron International. Those teams have worked on such efforts as virtual reality initiatives for major oil companies and the U.S. Government, green pharmaceutical projects for international corporations, accident-prevention efforts with world-recognized institutions and groundbreaking Alzheimer's research with other universities. The teams also have worked on projects with area businesses and communities on such efforts as alternative energy, digital holography and automotive technology.

Businesses, government organizations and non-profit groups from New Jersey and beyond are welcome to attend Industry Day, which is being co-sponsored by the New Jersey Technology Council, the Southern New Jersey Development Council, the Gloucester County Department of Economic Development and the South Jersey Technology Park. To reserve a place at the free event, RSVP by February 24 to Kathy Urbano at urbano@rowan.edu or 856-256-5309.
