Footie pajamas, friends, snowy fun, and a good book…what better way for kids to spend a Friday night?

Rowan University students in the Eta Psi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education, will host their fourth annual Pajama Party for area schoolchildren on Friday, Dec. 6, from 6-8 p.m. on the third floor of James Hall.

The Pajama Party is a literacy-based event for children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade who attend school districts near the University.

The event’s theme will be based around Ezra Jack Keats’ Caldecott Medal award-winning book, The Snowy Day. Students are encouraged to come to the event in their pajamas and enjoy crafts, games and refreshments. There will be a reading of Keats’ book as well as a screening of the movie adaptation.

Children attending must have a parent or guardian present with them throughout the night. However, a parent refreshment lounge will be provided.

Kappa Delta Pi completes various service projects and fundraisers throughout the school year to promote literacy. This year, the chapter received KDP’s Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) award for the second time.
