Rowan University Owl Alert: Female Student Sexually Assaulted Off Campus

On Thursday, Nov. 1, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a female student was sexually assaulted while walking along Carpenter Street, a road that runs along the northern perimeter of the Glassboro campus.

On Thursday, Nov. 1, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a female student was sexually assaulted while walking along Carpenter Street, a road that runs along the northern perimeter of the Glassboro campus.

The student, who was by herself, left a residence on Main Street to walk the half mile back to her Campus Terrace apartment, which is just off of Carpenter Street. Before she reached the complex, in the vicinity of 34 Carpenter St., she was attacked from behind and was sexually assaulted.

The student reported the incident to police this morning. She was taken to the hospital for an examination and was released shortly after.

Police believe this was a random attack. The only description of the attacker is that he is male with a deep voice. He wore a light-tan sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. The victim reported that the attacker fled immediately toward Campus Terrace apartments after pushing her to the ground.

Glassboro and Rowan Police will be increasing patrols in the area.
