The Rowan University College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Dean's Distinguished Speaker Series will present Dr. Kartik Sheth, an associate scientist from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, who will discuss the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) on Thursday, March 1, at 5 p.m. in Boyd Recital Hall, Wilson Hall.

The highest ranked decadal project in astronomy for transformational science, technology and computing, ALMA is poised to begin science operations near the Atacama Desert in South America. This new instrument will provide unprecedented sensitivity, spatial and spectral resolution, and image fidelity in the millimeter and submillimeter region of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Guests will be able to learn about the science and engineering opportunities and challenges as well as the status of the ALMA construction and operations and enjoy a user's perspective of the North American ALMA Science Center.
