Orchestra concert showcases winners of Student Soloist Competition
Rowan Orchestra concert showcases the talents of winners from the Student Soloist Competition.
Rowan University Orchestra showcases the talents of regional and international student musicians as part of its annual Student Soloist Competition Winners concert, presented this year on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 8 pm in the university’s Pfleeger Concert Hall.
Under the direction of Salvatore Scarpa, the orchestra is joined by winners from the Department of Music’s selective competitive event. This program includes sophomore pianist Tamara Benitez from Buenos Aires performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5; pianist Stanley DeLage, a sophomore from Tinton Falls, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3; senior violinist and South Korea native Yoonjoo Jung of Cherry Hill performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto; senior voice major Alicen Ragonese from Elk Township performing “Doretta's Aria” from Puccini's La Rondine; and clarinetists Jessica Smith (a junior from National Park) & Patrick Dolan (a junior from North Wales, PA) performing Mendelssohn's Concertstuck No. 1 for Two Clarinets and Orchestra.
The evening also showcases the orchestra performing the Prelude to Wagner's Die Meistersinger
The concert takes place in Pfleeger Concert Hall, located in Wilson Hall on the campus of Rowan University, Route 322 in Glassboro. Tickets are $10, general admission and $5 for seniors, alumni and non-Rowan students. Rowan students and staff are admitted free with valid ID.
