Rowan University has hired three professional staff members for the College of Professional & Continuing Education (CPCE), a new venture providing programs for working professionals and others pursuing degrees or furthering their education weekends and evenings on campus, off campus and online.
Amanda DeValerio, of Bellmawr, was named coordinator of degree completion. She joined the Rowan staff from Peirce College, Philadelphia, where she most recently was facilitator of the Corporate College and facilitator of Academic Operations. She also worked for Vox Medica, Philadelphia. She earned a bachelor's degree in communications studies from Rowan and a master's degree in organizational communication and leadership from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Elizabeth Regan-Butts, of Lindenwold, joined the Rowan staff as assistant director of University Marketing. A former sales/marketing representative at the Courier-Post, she also has worked for the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in education sales/recruitment and for the City of Philadelphia as a human resources assistant. She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Rowan and a master's in business administration degree from Temple.
Rebecca Snyder, of Bridgeton, was named academic advisor. Snyder previously was an independent education consultant. She also was employed at Columbia College, Chicago, as director of graduate admissions, graduate advisor and acting associate dean of graduate and continuing education, among other positions. Prior to that, she was director of the New Students Office and academic advisor at the University of Chicago and director of college counseling at St. Ignatius College Prep, Chicago, among other positions. She earned a bachelor's degree in history and master's degree in education from the University of Chicago.
CPCE, headed by Dean Horacio Sosa, Ph.D., is Rowan's newest academic college. Started last fall, CPCE offers opportunities for education, career advancement and personal enrichment to individuals with busy personal and professional lives. In addition to for-credit courses, CPCE provides customized education and training for corporations, school districts and other for- and not-for-profit agencies and organizations.
