Rowan University will host a showing of Al Gore's documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth" on Thursday, February 1, at 1 p.m. in the auditorium of Rowan Hall, the College of Engineering building off Bowe Blvd.
"An Inconvenient Truth" is an Academy Award-nominated documentary film about climate change, specifically global warming. After the screening, attendees will be invited to engage in a dialogue with Rowan faculty and staff who have expertise in the emerging field of sustainability and who are interested in making Rowan "greener." The event will conclude at 3 p.m.
The screening is one of many expected to take place across the country, along with other events sponsored by the project "Focus the Nation." "Focus the Nation," according to its Web site, is a major educational initiative that is coordinating teams of faculty, students and staff at more than 1,000 colleges, universities and high schools nationally to collaboratively engage in an interdisciplinary discussion centered around the theme of "Global Warming Solutions for America." The organization also is working with religious, civic, and business groups to focus national attention around a serious discussion of climate stabilization, according to "Focus the Nation." Rowan will have limited seats available to the general public. Reservations are required and can be made by emailing email@example.com by January 30.
