The Rowan University Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution naming the university?s honors program after attorney and Rowan supporter Thomas N. Bantivoglio of Haddonfield. The name change acknowledges Bantivoglio?s continued support of Rowan programs as trustee of the William G. Rohrer Foundation and his personal $1 million endowment gift supporting the university?s honors program.

The newly named Thomas N. Bantivoglio Honors Program will emphasize challenging coursework taught by faculty from different disciplines. Open to talented incoming freshmen, transfer and non-traditional students, and current Rowan students in every major and college, the program will feature active learning opportunities, including:

? Research assistantships and scholarships

? Out-of-class student programs and field trips

? Guest lectures

? Student interaction with faculty through research and joint national and regional academic conference presentations and publications

Through these enhanced educational experiences students become accomplished independent thinkers, researchers and leaders prepared for successful graduate study or professional careers.

In September 2004, Bantivoglio pledged a $1 million endowment gift that directly supports the honors program, providing the region?s most talented students with access to challenging and mind-broadening educational experiences. ?It is my hope that this contribution broadens the already well-regarded Rowan honors program and enhances the academic richness of higher education in South Jersey,? he said.

A long-time partner in the law firm of Archer & Greiner, P.C., Thomas N. Bantivoglio has served as counsel for Delaware Valley businesses and corporations for more than 50 years. As a trustee of the William G. Rohrer Charitable Foundation, Bantivoglio has helped to improve the economic and educational prosperity of southern New Jersey by providing support to Rowan University and other nonprofit organizations.
