GLASSBORO? Two Rowan University students from Cumberland County were honored as outstanding graduating seniors by Dr. Jay Harper, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Harper cited one student from each major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences during a recognition tea in April.

Suzanne Ackley, of Deerfield, an elementary education major with a minor in French and Spanish, was honored as the outstanding graduating senior in liberal studies/American studies. She is currently a member if Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Beta Delta and Golden Key honor societies. Ackley was described as &8482;bright, curious, culturally sensitive and has the ability to see our world from a multi-disciplinary perspective?the best in American studies students.&8482; Ackley plans to attend graduate school, teach elementary school and write books for elementary school teachers and children.

Fabiana E. Taberna, of Millville, a Spanish major with an international studies concentration, was honored as the outstanding graduating senior in Foreign Languages and Literature. A native of Uruguay, Taberna served as El Circulo de Espanol's representative (a Rowan chartered organization for Latino students) to the Student Government Association. She was honored in part for her appreciation of the difficulty of enlightening another person and her keen awareness of the benefits of belonging to two worlds. She plans to teach upon graduation.
