GLASSBORO - Rowan University's College of Engineering and Department of Chemistry and Physics will hold a summer institute in materials science for high school students and science teachers interested in earning professional development credit from July 14 to 25. Students interested in science and engineering are encouraged to attend.
The institute will give students and teachers the opportunity to explore how science, engineering and new materials help shape the future. Participants will discover the microuniverse, make and break composite materials, create a hologram using laser technology and learn about job opportunities in the high-tech field of materials science.
The free program is funded by Rowan University and the New Jersey Commissioner on Higher Education through a High Technology Workforce Excellence Grant.
For more information or to register for the institute, contact Samuel Lofland at (856) 256-3599 or Lofland@rowan.edu. Applications can be found online at www.rowan.edu/materials.
