About 250 students from throughout New Jersey will compete in The New Jersey College Bound Knowledge Bowl Tournament hosted by Rowan University?s CHAMP (Creating Higher Aspirations and Motivation Program) on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.in Wilson Hall on Rowan?s Glassboro campus.

The students are participants in the 10 New Jersey College Bound programs, of which CHAMP is one, and will compete in such areas as: chess; checkers; Win, Lose or Draw; an SAT spelling bee; African American and Hispanic trivia; and geography.

Winners will receive trophies and certificates in the Knowledge Bowl, which is sponsored by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education to bring together students from across state to compete in a healthy fashion and share their knowledge.

Rowan?s CHAMP is designed to help students from Camden, Bridgeton, Millville and Vineland develop the skills they will need to be accepted for and succeed in post-secondary education. Begun as a pre-college aca-demic program out of the university?s Camden campus in the summer of 1988, CHAMP provides year-round academic and personal support for an average of 200 youth, including a summer program in the Pine Barrens.
