Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM won first place in the Philadelphia Press Association's Annual Media Awards Competition. The documentary, <+>Facing the Facts: The Use and Abuse of Alcohol<+> was the winning entry in the Enterprise Reporting category marking the fourth in a series of awards.


The award will be presented at the annual Philadelphia Press Association's Awards Banquet held at the Bala Country Club on Friday, June 28.

Produced over a 12-week period <+>Facing the Facts: The Use and Abuse of Alcohol,<+> is part of a five-part series addressing issues of alcoholism as a disease, drinking and driving, as well as treatment and recovery.

The documentary has previously won first place for Enterprise Reporting awarded by The New Jersey Press Association, New Jersey Chapter, first place for Best College Production in the annual New Jersey Associated Press Broadcasters competition and the Crystal Award of Excellence in the Student Production category of the Communicator Awards competition.

In addition to airing on Rowan Radio, <+>Facing the Facts: The Use and Abuse of Alcohol<+> was distributed to all New Jersey radio stations and certain service organizations through a grant received from the Rowan University Center for Addiction Studies.
