Glassboro?As part of the African American History Month celebration at Rowan University civil rights activist Jerry Herman will lead a discussion on reparations on Feb. 5 at 11a.m. in the Student Center, Room 221.

Herman participated in the 2001 World Conference Against Racism in South Africa where reparations was a key issue. The movement seeks compensation for enslavement and unjust acts against African Americans.

Since joining the American Friends Committee in 1978, Herman has focused on African Slavery issues and helped built an anti-slavery movement in the United States. He has videotaped several interviews with slave women in African countries and the consequences of violence.

Herman holds a bachelor?s degree from Illinois State University and a master?s from Southern Illinois University.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
