Glassboro - Ask college students what bands are their favorites and you?ll most likely hear <+>Dave Matthews Band,<+> <+>Lenny Kravitz<+> or <+>Green Day.<+> But, ask Rowan German exchange student Michael Loening who his favorite musical artist is, and he?ll say <+>Herbert Groenemeyer.<+>

Don?t be dismayed if you?ve never heard of Herbert Groenemeyer. Most tri-state residents ? both in college and out ? probably haven?t. But, all that will change when Loening and his fellow German exchange student, Kirsten Schuhmann, bring modern German music to the airwaves of Rowan Radio this and every Thursday through December 20, from 10 to 11 p.m.

Both Loening, 29, and Schuhmann, 24, are studying Radio/TV/Film at Rowan University this semester. At the end of December, they will return to Germany and begin preparing for the spring session at the University of Osnabrueck. But before returning to Osnabrueck, they wanted to introduce German artists such as Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Echt and Pur to the their fellow students and the surrounding community.

<+>We thought it would be a good idea to let the American students hear what kind of music we listen to, especially since they probably never have heard German music,<+> said Loening. <+>I think it?s nice for the other students to hear what students in other countries like.<+>

To hear Loening and Schuhmann, tune into 89.7 WGLS-FM each Thursday evening though December 20 from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. For more information on Rowan Radio, visit http://wgls.rowan.edu.
