A South Jersey businessman who wishes to remain anonymous has donated $375,000 to support the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Rowan University.

A South Jersey businessman who wishes to remain anonymous has donated $375,000 to support the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Rowan University.

Rowan?s Executive Director of the Rowan University Foundation Philip Tumminia, who has met with the donor on numerous occasions, said the donor was looking for a worthy educational cause to support and decided on the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. <+>He was very impressed with Don Farish?s plan for the University,<+> said Tumminia, <+>and he wanted to contribute to its success.<+>

Jay Harper, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, said the donation proves that the college is moving in the right direction. <+>With the construction of the new science building, numerous faculty grants and increasing partnerships with area businesses, Rowan?s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is building on its solid reputation as a premier liberal arts and sciences college,<+> said Jay Harper, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. <+>Gifts such as this one reinforce the work we?re doing and the positive changes we?re making.<+>

The largest of the university?s six colleges, Rowan?s College of Liberal Arts & Sciences offers 16 major undergraduate programs and 3 graduate degrees. In addition to its programs, the college supports the Liberal Arts and Sciences Institute for Research and Community Service, which was founded at Rowan in 1993 to enhance faculty research and to focus on faculty community service in such a way that establishes partnerships with the community.
