At least four mothers and daughters will be among the approximate 2,300 students eligible for graduation on May 11 from Rowan University.

At least four mothers and daughters will be among the approximate 2,300 students eligible for graduation on May 11 from Rowan University.

The family graduates are:

Maryanne V. Ambrose and her daughter Nancy I. Ambrose of Barrington will graduate with degrees in history and business administration, with a specialization in accounting, respectively. Maryann graduated from Camden Catholic High School in 1967, and Nancy graduated from Haddon Heights High School in 1997. Maryanne is a teacher at St. Jude?s School in Blackwood, and Nancy is pursuing a position as an internal auditor. Maryanne began taking college courses after high school but did not complete her degree at that time. She returned to school in 1987 when the oldest of her six children started college and is graduating with her youngest. Son Thomas graduated from Rowan with a degree in law/justice in 1997. Diane L. Anderson and daughter Kelli A. Anderson of Thorofare are graduating with degrees in business administration with a specialization in management and general music and psychology, respectively. Diane is a 1973 graduate of Deptford High School, and Kelli graduated in 1996 from West Deptford High School. Diane works as a safety officer for Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center and was encouraged by her employer to return to school. Kelli anticipates attending graduate school to study social work. Sophia Khalifa and daughter Janine, of Voorhees, earned law/justice degrees. Sophia is a 1960 graduate of John W. Hallahan High School, Philadelphia, and Janine is a 1996 graduate of Eastern Regional High School. Sophia works for the Camden County Probation Department, in the Child Support Division. Janine is searching for a position and recently took tests to become a probation or parole officer in Camden County. Ultimately, Sophia said, <+>We?re both interested in working with drug and alcohol addicts.<+> (NOTE: Sophia is walking Friday and completed her coursework in December.) Kathy L. Simpkins and daughter Rebecca L. Simpkins of Somerdale are graduating with degrees in communication, with a specialization in writing arts and history, respectively. Kathy is a 1974 graduate of Pennsauken High School, and Rebecca is a 1997 graduate of Paul VI High School. Kathy teaches computer technology at St. Lawrence School in Lindenwold. Rebecca is searching for a position and may return to school, with the goal of becoming a professor.
