Rowan University student DeAndre Caldwell of Willingboro will serve as a student athletic trainer for the New York Giants preseason training camp this summer.

Caldwell, a health and exercise science major with a specialization in athletic training, beat out over 100 hopeful applicants. During the preseason training camp, from July 23 to the end of August, Caldwell will live in a provided apartment. He will handle basic trainer jobs, such as taping the players' ankles and transporting them for MRIs and X-rays when needed.

<+>I thank God for the athletic training program at Rowan University, because without it I wouldn't be in the position that I am today,<+> Caldwell said.

The son of Angela and Ernest Caldwell, Sr., he hopes to attend medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon or become the head athletic trainer for a professional football team.
