Rowan University hosts <+>From Africa to America: A Journey through Word and Song<+> on
February 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom Lobby in celebration of African
American History Month and Delta Sigma Theta Founders Week.?

<+>From Africa to America: A Journey through Word and Song<+> tells the story of the travel
from Africa to America during the slave trade to present day.? Rowan students will read
poetry that express the emotions of the time from the 1500s to 1865.? The poets included
in the selections are: Claude McCay, Phyllis Wheatley, David Walker, George Moses
Horton, Margaret Walker, Maya Angelou and Jill Scott-Heron.

The event also will feature cultural songs and dance by students that explore their cultural
heritage and history.
