WHO: Rowan University?s Astronomy Club and the Rowan Astronomical Observatory

WHAT: invite students, faculty, staff and the local community to the official
recommissioning of the 12-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope as well as a telescopic viewing
of Venus, the moon, Saturn, Jupiter and other celestial objects such as galaxies, clusters and
double stars

WHERE: atop Bosshart Hall on Rowan University?s campus

WHEN: on Wednesday, November 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (In the event of cloud
coverage, the event will be held Thursday, November 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

WHY: The 12-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope has been out of commission for
approximately nine months and is now again ready to be used for viewing. Visitors will have
the chance to examine celestial objects with the powerful 12-inch telescope. Guests can also
use the 6-inch and 8-inch telescopes located in the rooftop suite for simultaneous viewing.
