Rowan makes Forbes' top 650 list

Haverford College is the top-ranked Philadelphia-area institution on Forbes’ annual list of the nation’s 650 best colleges.

No. 1 on the list is Williams College in Massachusetts. Haverford was ranked No. 7.

Forbes says its list of “America’s best undergraduate institutions focuses on educational outcomes, not reputations” and rates “quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt.”

The other Philadelphia-area schools to make the top 100 are Swarthmore College  (No. 16) and the University of Pennsylvania (No. 52).

Other area institutions on the list are:

• Ursinus College (No. 108).

• Villanova University (No. 119).

• University of Delaware (No. 288).

• Rowan University (No. 488).

• Temple University (No. 496).

•  West Chester University (No. 569).

•  (No. 583).
