Congressman John J. Conyers, the 44th Dean of the U.S. House of Representatives, will deliver the keynote address Feb. 23 during the Department of Africana Studies’ 11th annual Rosa Parks Luncheon.

This years' recipient and keynote speaker is Congressman John Conyers, a civil rights activist, and one of the original Freedom Riders. There is a $50 adult luncheon fee. Proceeds beyond the cost of the lunch will be used to sponsor student scholarships. Checks can be payable to Rowan University and sent to the Department of Africana Studies, Attention-Denise Williams, Robinson Hall ext.

Dr. Jeanne Theoharis will provide an interesting and thought-provoking lecture on the untold story of Rosa Parks's long history of activism before and after the Montgomery bus boycott as the head of the local NAACP Youth Council, lead investigator of sexual assault against Black women in the state, and fearless activist committed to achieving justice in Detroit Michigan.
