Join us in welcoming Dr. Ann Jurecic, guest lecturer as part of the CHSS Speaker Series. In the 21st century, stories of personal illness are everywhere: in books,
magazines, and films, in vast quantities online, and even compressed into
Tweets. Our willingness to disclose information about sickness would
have been unthinkable a century ago. American literature, for example, is
virtually silent about the 1918 flu. But seventy years later, an outpouring
of memoirs about AIDS established the illness narrative as a popular and
Rowan University Art Gallery presents 'Heads and Tales,' showcasing selected studio work by Philadelphia-born, New Jersey-based artist Tom Nussbaum. The exhibit features a variety of mediums in which Nussbaum locates common attributes that embody a narrative framework, and which developed out of his life-long interest in building things that express his view of the world.

Representatives from the Amistad Commission will be on campus to highlight the Amistad Bill (1301) which became law in 2002, and calls on New Jersey schools to incorporate African American history into the Social Studies curriculum. All teacher candidates in History and the Social Studies content area are encouraged to attend.
The ensemble performs selections ranging from experimental concepts on the 'cutting edge' to more traditional contemporary repertoire as well as improvisation and original works. Admission is free and open to the public.
